A l'intérieur du parc André Citroën, aménagé au début des années 1990 sur l'ancien site de production automobile, on peut voir un cadran solaire récent. Il comporte une table horizontale et un plan incliné servant de cadran polaire. Le style imposant mesure environ 1,50 m et est terminé par une boule. Malheureusement, depuis son installation, la végétation a largement poussé et le cadran n'est plus guère éclairé dans la journée. Ce cadran a été conçu par M. Jean-Michel Ansel, cadranier dans la Sarthe.
In the André Citroën park, open in the 1990's on the former automotive manufacturer plant, you can see a modern sundial. It is made with an horizontal sundial and an inclined plane acting as a polar sundial, with a common style. Unfortunately, since its installation, trees around have grown and the sundial hardly sees the Sun nowadays. This sundial was design by Jean-Michel Ansel, French sundial maker.
Le cadran horizontal est en bronze. Les lignes horaires apparaissent en relief et son numérotées. La lettre M signale la ligne de midi. En haut, le mot "été" indique que la table horizontale est éclairée essentiellement l'été, lorsque le Soleil est haut sur l'horizon.
The horizontal sundial is in brass. Hour lines are accentuated above the surface. The letter M means noon (midi in French). The word ETE means summer in French and recalls the visitor that the horizontal plate is used mainly during summer when the Sun is high in the sky.
La partie inclinée en pierre reçoit le cadran polaire. Le style est parallèle à ce plan qui est donc dans le plan polaire. L'ombre du style tombe sur ce cadran essentiellement l'hiver lorsque le Soleil est bas sur l'horizon. Trois lignes horaires sont gravées pour 11 h, midi et 13 h.
The polar sundial is made with stones. The style is parallel to this plane. Its shadow falls on this plane mainly during winter when the Sun is low above the horizon, that's why the word HIVER is written on it. Three hour lines between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm are engraved.
